The mainstay of the Foundation's fundraising activities, in addition to grant writing, is the annual Holiday House. Both a
shopping extravaganza and opportunity to tour this historic home, the Holiday House takes place the first two weekends in
November each year from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
The house is filled with decorated Christmas trees in every room (usually highlighting each year's chosen decorating theme),
one-of-a-kind holiday wreaths, hand-crafted jewelry and arts and crafts by many local and regional artists, gourmet treats
and a huge selection of purchased gift and holiday items.
Admission to the event is $10 per person -- no children, please -- and allows readmission all four days. A queen-sized
empty shopping bag allows visitors to shop throughout the house with one convenient checkout when finished.
Visitors can also take a self-guided tour of the house as they shop. Signs are posted in each room near the doorway. It's
a wonderful way to learn about this extraordinary house while shopping for holiday gifts.
Tickets go on sale in September at various Coastside locations or by phoning the house at (650) 726-0329. Ticket are also
available at the door each day of the event.
Not only does the Holiday House raise funds to restore and furnish the house, it brings the house and the pioneer Johnston
family to the attention of coastsiders and residents of the entire Bay Area.
Parking is free in the lot below the house or on Higgins Purisima Road. A shuttle bus takes attendees from the parking lot
to the house and back again, usually with their arms full of presents for the holidays.
Many thanks to Coldwell Banker Realty for their support.
